My first membership renewal is coming up and the question is will I renew?
Yes, of course I will! I have atttended 2 of my 4 local meetings of the North West Branch and have been made very welcome both times. How come meetings always clash with another when the rest of that week is free.
I would like to say a very big thank you to David Wareing who conducts the meetings in a way that puts everyone at their ease. It is his stewardship, I believe that creates the family atmosphere, & high attendance at the meetings.
I also went to the gathering in September which allowed me to put faces to names. The Spares section had all their parts on display and Gill Swan made time to have a chat when the opportunity arose. The only bad part of the day was being pulled up by the Police who claimed I was doing 98mph. Now I would readily agreed if I had been on my Scott and insisted on prosecution. But as it happened, a Porsche & M5 BMW were racing at over 130mph in the outside lane as I pottered along in the middle lane, I wondered which of these 2, the copper was going to pull in. I couldn’t believe it when he pulled me in as I’d seen him so far off that I knew I wasn’t speeding, (I don’t with my wife on the back but it will cost about £800 to defend this). I forgot all about it once I arrived at such fantastic surroundings on such a lovely day.The gathering had all types of Scotts on show and several late Flyers like mine with Dowty forks. A good look at these to check my own was in order.
So next year I won’t be a new member any longer but one with a full year which must look pretty puny next to some. I wonder who is the longest member of the Club?
Hope to see more of you all next year now my wife is on the mend and be able to go on some runs with other Scotts. But like most of you it seems, I own more than 1 classic and I do enjoy riding my Ariel Huntmaster as well, so time has to be shared. So a bit of rebuilding over the winter & hopefully Roger Moss will put on another of his splendid workshops, so I can attend and gain from his extensive knowledge. Right, now where is that membership renewal form, must fill it in and send it off.
