New owner

Thought I would introduce myself on here. My father and I have bought a 1938 Flying Squirrel this weekend. Picking the bike up next weekend 😀

Looks very nice , was this the one on Ebay? Restored 4yrs ago in Doncaster?

Yes that’s the bike James, It looks nice but not overly restored. We’re on a steep learning curve to learn about Scott’s so anything you see that is obviously not correct I’d be interested to know. Pics were taken at the guys house, We’re near Selby, North Yorks

Do you know who restored it? Did you get paper on the restore? That way you can look over the work that was done and the items that were replaced . The listing mentioned a low geared sprocket that you might think about changing.

The owner restored it, his son was selling it on his behalf. There’s a little paperwork for various chroming jobs and nuts etc. I will know a little more when we collect it and get chance to study the paperwork. I had forgotten about the lower gearing being mentioned, but that can be changed once we’ve checked it over.

Can someone advise on what 2 stroke oil is suitable to use? He’s put synthetic in, which to me seems a bad idea for the main’s? Also what coolant is recommended?
