My long term Scott bitsa project has finally completed its dry build and i’m ready to take it all apart again and paint it……. I’ve decided to paint the frame (black) by brush and have the tanks and mudguards sprayed (in red) professionally. So, two questions:
1. Which brush paints give a good, durable, petrol/oil resistant finish (i’ve used Jenolite (?) ‘RePaint’ in the past with good effect) ?
2. Does anyone have info on a shade of red that looks good on a Scott and how I reference it for the sprayer to mix/blend whatever ?
I’m not fussed about the bike being concours because it’s going to be sprinted (with parts changed at frequent intervals and bound to chip the paint) as well as the occasional road use. Therefore paint recommendations which are durable would be useful (i’ve had bad experience with cellulose paint in the past as it seems to chip and flake very easily). Also, i’m going to paint the black bits in my shed so nothing too toxic can be used !
