I recently checked the registration numbers of various cars and motor cycles owned by my late father on the DVLA web site without discovering any that were still registered.

However, when photos taken during his holiday in North Wales in August 1929 were examined more carefully I discovered that, in addition to his own Scott 596 + sidecar Reg. No. YP6959, there was one of him posing on another Scott with a different Reg. No. YF7664 and when this was entered into the DVLA web site it was shown as still being registered.

If the present owner reads this and would like to contact me I will tell him all I know about the owner of YF7664 in 1929.

YF 7664 was included in an old SOC listing, as a 1927 3 speed super.
It will be interesting to see if the present owner reads your posting, especially if you were both willing to submit photos from years apart for publication in the SOC magazine “Yowl”.
See how it goes, but if there’s no response there are other avenues within the club.

Where on the DVLA website can I find out whether my 1948 Scott that I owned back in 1958, registration number HAA204, is still in use?

The website to check if a vehicle is licensed is
http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk
HAA 204 is currently SORN’d. This is due for renewal on 1/5/2006. The Scott was first registered 17/2/1949.
All this info is now in the public domain for anyone to use. Names and addresses are not disclosed.

Thanks for the info Ian.
As a matter of interest, HAA 204 used to belong to me back in the late 1950s and at that time was a 1948 Scott, not a 1949 Scott. I still have the original frame and blown up engine!

Of course,many Scotts that you may have owned in the past will be impossible to find now due to the amount of plate robbers posing as bike dealers.
