I have just fitted a pump reduction drive to my 47 Scott and the pump now fouls the exhaust, the oil feed unions on the bottom of the pump don’t allow the exhaust to come up high enough. It looks like these reduction drives aren’t suitable for Scotts with a right hand exhaust system. Has anyone else fitted one of these drives to their Scott with a right hand exhaust and overcome the problem?

There is plenty of room on the one fitted to my bike.

Eddie, a pic of mine is above. The exhaust is touching the tank oil feed and it isn’t tightened up yet. My pump looks to be lower than yours for some reason.
[attachment=0:34r3pzeg]DSC00568.JPG[/attachment:34r3pzeg]Hi Steve,
The pump drive is eccentric to the body of the reduction gear so you should be able to rotate 90deg to lift the pump up in relation to the centre line of the door.

Eddie
I don’t recall mine being eccentric but it probably is, I will have a look tonight and report back.
Thanks Eddie.
My pump is concentric with the reduction gear, not offset.

Your pump connectors are not right you should have a banjo connector with a hollow bolt, similar to float bowl to carburettor joint. Alan Noakes. scottworkshop@hotmail.co.uk
Be VERY careful that whatever type of union you use in the feed hole, does not obstruct the internal drilling that goes off sideways near the end of the threads. Take the pump off to be able to see what I mean. Normally only three or four thread pitches should screw into the hole, so it may be necessary to shorten the threaded portion of the union fitting, in order to be sure that the drilling isn’t obstructed.

Success I have clearance, thanks Eddie.
With regards to the pump connectors. Thank you for highlighting a potential problem but these connectors are what the bike came with and have worked perfectly well up to now so I will leave alone, I have only added the reduction drive and necessary pipework.

Can I ask the source and cost of this reduction drive?
Try Alan Noakes
I bought it from a private classified, it was new but I don’t know the original source, sorry.
Eddie Shermer might be able to help too.
