I cannot claim to be an expert but have no problems adding pictures to a post on this forum. Of course, this may be be because I am lucky and have no PC conflict issues! In some ways the Scott forum makes life easy as it allows you to upload pictures. Many forums only allow you to add a link to a third party hosting site which can be a pain. The following is what I do;
Start a new thread with appropriate musings.
Click on the upload attachment tab visible below the text addition box.
You then get a visible “Choose file” box
If you click that then you can navigate to where the desired picture is stored then click open.
The file name should now be visible next to the choose file option.
To add the file to the post click the “Add the file” box.
At this point you will probably get a “File too big” warning as most modern cameras take pictures that are greater in size than 1 MB 🙄
If so, then see separate note below!
If not, then click the “Place inline” box and the picture should be added. In this case a picture of my manky big end!
Further pics can be added by clicking the “Delete file” box and then repeating the process from “Choose file”.
Reducing picture file size – max 1 MB
There are many ways of doing this apart from changing the settings on the camera. If you have photo editing software then this should be able to do that. I am sure there are many free options out there. However, most mail clients can also do this and I use Outlook which easily allows you to re-size pics. If you right click on a picture then click the “Send to” option then select the “Mail recipient” option then you will get an option box that allows you to select the size of the file you want to send. You can select the “Large 1280 x 1024” option as that is only 384 KB. You will then get a draft email with an attachment of a more appropriate size that can be saved somewhere convenient. You should then be able to upload this pic to the forum.
Hope that helps!
