prop (side) stand for flyer frame

I’m sure I remember some posts about this but I can’t find them – I want to fit a good prop stand for my 1928 framed bitza and am sure someone will have done a good job I could copy. Any advice much appreciated.

Hi Richard,
I’ve had one fitted to my ’38 Clubman Special frame for 10 years with absolutely no problems. Its just a bolt on universal job, they are about £20 on Ebay. It fits behind the gearbox on the left hand lower frame tube. When the stand is folded up, the end is just in front of the rear wheel spindle. It looks too far back but fitted here it is unobtrusive and the balance is perfect when the stand is in use. The frame tube needs roughing up to keep the clamp from twisting and I wirelocked the clamp bolts as initially they tended to work loose.

Coincidently, I have just today recieved in the post a side stand intended for a Royal Enfield I purchased new from India via ebay (ordered before Christmas).

cost £12.99 +£9.99 postage. I bought it taking the chance it could be modified to fit my 1929 Flying Squirrel.
In fact I did wonder whether if it would ever arrive. Luckily it did! Not bad quality.
It looks as though with a bit of hacksawing and filing it can be made to fit the spare holes in the lower frame rail at the front of the engine.
Unfortunately at the speed I work at, it will be a few weeks before I can confirm it will work.
