Hi all,

At the last VMC section meeting the thema was Scott. A friend of mine brought a modified two speeder oil tank. The oil cap was moved from center to the right. See pictures.

Any ideas on the reason of this? Just a Scott owner that was very, very bored and decided to change the location of the cap just for fun or something else….

Hi all,

Perhaps the bike was raced at some stage? If the cap was in the normal position the rider would be in the way for refilling. Some of the racing machines had the radiator cap on the left not the normal position on the right which enabled it to be re-filled without the mechanic going out into the road.

OK, I can understand that for the radiator but for the oiltank? You can ride quite some distance on one tank…

Maybe it has something to do with a sidecar that was attached to the top frame lug? Maybe this interferred with the cap in the original position. But looking at my bike this also seems hardly feasible…

Any more ideas?
