Removing the tank

Hello guys just after some advice, my fuel tank has some rust inside so want to remove it to clean it. I can remove the petrol side ok but how do I remove the oil side, I am unsure with regards the oil tap and not wanting to damage anything

any help would be great thanks

You can’t, it is integral with the tank.

However, unless the oil reservoir has been empty for many years, it will be fine inside.

Just de-rust the tank and seal it with a GOOD quality sealer.

Thanks for the reply, so where do I disconnect the oil pipe from to remove the tank..sorry if these seem odd questions but new to owning this bike..

its a 1938 flying squirrel by the way

Tom, the oil pipe should be on the rear R/h side of the fuel tank, the oil reservoir tube is integral with the fuel tank, so the take off is at the bottom.

My tap doesn’t appear to have a push fit fitting just soldered, or am I missing something

any advice would be great

Just undo the nut.

Reply ok, hold the top nut and undo bottom will the pipe come free then?
