Hi, I’m presently housing, (but do NOT own) an old Scott vintage racer last used in anger in about 1971. Very much a bitsa, it has a mutilated long wheelbase Flyer frame of 1927/8 vintage and a 1930 short-stroke Flyer based engine. It has an ugly rear suspension grafted on, Webb forks, and twin 7″ Webb front brakes laced into the front wheel back-to-back. The handchange has been sawn off, and it has a Norton type positive stop footchange mechanism grafted onto the Scott gearbox.
Does anyone remember it, or the rider, Michael William Fordham ? He used to ride in the Banbury Run in later years, usually on a Sunbeam, and he came from Oakington, near Cambridge.
