The saddle post on my 1912 Scott has at one stage been broken, and an earlier owner has tried to make a repair with little success. Part of the saddle post is missing, and it has to be reconstructed. The original saddle post was shaped like a 120 degree knee, with a 1″ diameter tube fitting into the rear downtube, and another tube pointing backwards, parallell to the ground. This tube probably had a 7/8″ diameter (Brooks saddle standard). The knee was strengthened with a 120 degree muff. This system was used in 1912 and 1913, probably also in 1910 and 1911. From 1914 onwards it was changed totally, with the saddle post integral with the oil filler on top of the rear downtube.
I need measures of the saddle post, diameter of the rear tube and the muff, as well as the length of the tubes. Is there anyone out there with a similar saddle post who can help me?
