Just in case it is of interest, or anyone wants me to take cylinder paint or parts, VMCC racing arm BHR will have a presence in the outside GP Paddock and have asked me to take my Scott racer. Yes, of course I understand that it is not a conventional Scott, but it represents my attempt to stretch the performance envelope to see how far I can take it. (currently 44 BHP) This has always been the way with private racing efforts and has had the advantage of stress testing any modifications to the original design so as to be confident before offering to others. I explained that the gearbox was dismantled awaiting new components, following the damage wrought by Steve Plater. I only had one day’s racing this year with a first and second place in a rather poorly supported “Girder Fork ” class until a weakened component broke and went between the shafts and broke the layshaft. I now am making replacement components for this four speed gearbox. I reflect that I never had any failures when I was riding the bike, so I should make a resolution not to loan out the bike when I fix it. I have been asked to display the bike partially stripped and will take gearbox element for those who relish disasters! I do hope that when folks see the Spondon chassis, etc, it will not cause too much controversy. I like Stafford as I meet many old friends and my bike, even if not typical, will at least be one bike there which owes allegiance to the Scott marque Kindest Regards to all Roger
