Hi all,
I see that there is a 1941 Scott-engined Cyc-Auto autocycle for sale on eBay at £2395-00
The vendor says that he will be selling several more in the coming weeks, all from the same collection. Perhaps they will be a little cheaper……
It is item number 271164051190.

So what would a sensible price be for a nice Scott engined cyc-auto?

😀 😀 😀 Re the above and having had a look at the listing. “More Cyc Autos will be available” Wow!!! I can hardly wait for these to become available!!! I would certainly be interested in one at around GBP 5.42p (for 2!) 😀 😀 Regards to all !!!!!
I was trying to be a bit more polite than that….

Take two grand off and you will be about right for one of these hopeless autocycles. They have a strange worm and pinion drive train, that wears out in no time, and sap up too much of the little power it has on tap! Villiers engined “mopeds” are far better. Don”t buy one , you will not like it! It should not bear the Scott name.
I’ve always wondered why on earth they put the crankshaft in line with the frame instead of across, as they could then have had a much simpler, and cheaper, chain primary transmission. Quite perverse really !

I’m with Ted on this. 🙂
AND there is no V5 either. I bet it isn’t even a runner….
Brian
😀 😀 “A Runner” Brian?? You can always “Runner” alongside it!!!!!!!! 😀 😀
The vendor says he has “never even tried to start it, these are just as we pull them out”
I think it will need a lot of LPA, the old euphemism for ‘Light Pedal Assistance’ used for all the old gutless autocycles…

Ah right. I’ll stick with my 1914 Wall Autowheel then! 😉
I saw that (there was two on at one point) but I think I’m going to stick with my Cyclemaster. Thats unreliable enough 😀
There is a Wall Autowheel on eBay at the moment which tempts me but I’ve got far too much on at the moment….

You power mad promenade Percys are frightening me with this talk of all these unreliable brutes so i recon that i will stick to my Piati scooter its not let me down in 35 years its the best bit of reinforcing in the shed floor. D F.
Ah, Piatti , the importers used to be on St.Marks Street in Nottingham, but not for long ! They didn’t exactly sell like hot cakes, and it is a long, long time since I saw one in the flesh. Although the name sounds Italian, they were actually made in Belgium, and very briefly in England, at the Cyclemaster factory. Bob Currie declared the Piatti to be “The worst motor scooter ever perpetrated”, which is rather scathing….. I didn’t think that Belgium made anything except chocolate and Hercule Poirot, and he is fictitious, invented by Agatha Christie !

Erik van Dongen, an SOC member in Holland, used to have a Piatti, one of the Belgian-made ones, with the Sachs engine that was better than the Cyclemaster-made engine, but that was a few years ago, (2007), and I don’t know if he still has it ?
