Scott – emblem for Shirt

hi!

I have a friend who owns a sewing machine. As I could not get a big
Scott badge for my shirt we programmed a CNC file to produce such a
badge – see picture. I am not sure about this is legal concerning the
copyright. I do not want to sell them. I will produce Just one for me.
For fun, or maybe as a present for good friends. Take a look at the prototype.

Do I have do ask somebody concerning the copyright?

Diameter about 200 mm ~ 7,8 inch

You see the Scott logo on several other items. I guess there is no copyright. And as you want to use it privately only I guess this is even less of a problem.

But maybe I think to lightly on this subject being from the internet generation (the www is full of logo’s etc. and I guess only few people bother about copyright…)

It is often better to ask first bevor having troubles!

but I’m not sure – there is an old saying:

“Who ask’s a lot – goes wrong a lot” – or so (sorry for my english)

The Scott logo is a trade mark and it is held by David Holder. His Father, Matt Holder, bought the Scott Motor Cycle company and went on to produce the Birmingham Scotts. David has an engineering business and makes parts and trades under the name of Velocette Ltd, a company that Matt also bought.

The Scott Owners’ Club has agreement with David Holder to use the logo for club purposes including regalia for club members. Geoff Green is the Club’s badge secretary and he stocks regalia for sale to Club menbers. David Holder would not be pleased if other people started using the logo for commercial purposes. I was in contact with David Holder about this topic in February this year.
