Scott or Not ? new member introduction

Hello, I have recently joined the club , I am based in Tattershall Lincs. I am now the proud owner of a large selection of parts, supposedly a complete Scott Flying Squirrel  of 1948. I have managed to find that the engine is from 1930 other than that I will have to work me way though my project to see what is Scott and what is not.

You may have seen the listing on Ebay, there were 2 listings one for the restoration project and one for another swinging arm frame with a few other parts. Well, it’s now all in my garage.

 

I seem to have lots of stands, so are they Scott or not?

I am hoping to meet up with anyone local so I can see a complete Scott to ascertain exactly what I have missing. Best Ricky Burns

Hi Ricky,

Welcome!  We have a 1948 Scott (not very standard though) and are based in North Nottingham.  Brian Marshall the Eastern Section organiser is at Aslockton and knows a lot about these bikes.  I suggest you try and get along to the next section meeting at The Buttercross at Bingham (NG13 8AP) at 10:00am on the 8th August.

Scott’s generally didn’t have side stands but one could be added as an after-market item,  of course.

The stand on the right is off an AJS or Matchless, swingarm single downtube frame,  1950’s.

The stand on the left fits in the front engine mount twixt engine and frame. It lifts the front wheel clear of the ground if you want to take the risk!

Hi Rick i’m also a new scott owner bought january this year and only leave at Grantham, bike was almost complete when i bought it.
