SOC Southern Rally on 9 – 11th August 2019, at
FELDEN LODGE
FELDEN LANE HEMEL HEMPSTEAD HERTFORDSHIRE HP3 0BL
Laurie Erwood, assisted by Richard Martin and Richard Tann, have arranged a Southern Scott Owners Club Rally at Feldon Lodge, Hemel Hempstead. It’s an ideal location. The hotel style venue is possibly on-par with Abbotsholme. It’s off the beaten track, on a 32 acre site so there is plenty of room, no concern about making too much noise. The date is the only one available this year. The maximum capacity for catering is about 60 guests, members, friends and family are invited.
The food is reported to be excellent. Included in a weekend package is Friday dinner, Saturday ‘continental’ breakfast, cooked lunch, and dinner, Sunday continental breakfast and lunch. Bring your own booze. It is possible to substitute a packed lunch on Saturday if required. Tea and coffee is included, available at all times. In addition draft ale could be provided by the club.
For those who chose to reside in the Lodge there are excellent bedrooms, adult size beds, mostly twin. Each bedroom has en-suite facilities, all linen, towels etc provided. There is room for any number of campers and camper vans, drinking water tap, waste disposal, and toilet facilities nearby. There are no ‘hook-up’ provisions.
A large lounge can accommodate 60 for a conference or speakers. More than enough room for car parking, auto jumble, book sale, bike display etc. We have the use of the sports hall for security or a back stop if it’s raining. There are adequate toilets, and a compact area for the event, minimum walking for those with mobility difficulties.
We will arrange a motorcycle run in the Chiltern Hills. We are visiting Ivor Dutton’s Bugatti workshop, with an alternative venue for non-riders. Roger Moss has kindly offered to give us a talk. We have arranged a small band for evening entertainment. The regalia team from the Scott Club will be selling badges, tee shirts etc. We may have a book sale, and a Scott quiz. We hope to encourage a good auto jumble, and are asking all those attending to bring at lease one unwanted item of motorcycle related jumble to sell. You could go home with more cash than you came with!
The rally will follow the usual format. Arrive Friday about 3pm. Ride out Saturday (with breakdown recovery), machine display on Sunday. Lots of talking, no speeches, no awards, leave the site about 3pm. If you have any ideas to add interest please let us know.
Rates are £132 per person for the whole weekend inclusive of all meals and sharing a twin room, meeting room, sports hall, out-door space for display purposes, parking, wi-fi and all refreshments. Single Rooms would be £168. Caravans or campers would be charged £102 per person, fully catered in the Lodge. Or self-caterers would pay £30 camping fee per van. These are the rates charged by the Lodge.
Day guests are welcome, but must be club members, or accompanied by a club member.
This announcement is sent individuals who are or might be interested in participating. So far we have about thirty which is enough to justify the commitment, but it would be great to have more bookings up to the maximum. Please encourage your Scott Club friends to attend, but the Lodge bookings are on a ‘first come – first served’ basis.

Well done for putting this info up onto the forum,
Dave Bushell and I are in discussion about attending some of this weekend meet, more to follow
Hope to be there for the Sunday, prior engagement in London on the Saturday, sadly. Should be a good event.
Hello Richard,
I hope to be there on the Sunday with boxes of Yowl binders for sale……If I have a trailer by then, I may even have a Scott in tow!
See you all soon.
Fantastic, more the merrier, see you Sunday
Pls ignore my post above, in wrong section…..
I’ve just found this post as I really cannot get my head round this forum, sorry. Bit of as tall ask but I’ll try and get there by Scott on the Sunday 🙂
Your right it’s still a minefield , still not practical at all !
Hi all
since I have bought my 1932 TT Replica last year I am a member of the SOC.
My plan is to come over to the rally at Feldon Lodge with the bike hopefully running by then.
I am looking for some bits for the half-compression device, especially the cut-out switch and what else may be necessary. I have the lever on the handle bar, the “saxophone lever” fitted to the exhaust pipes and the valves fitted to the barrel. Everything else is missing. I’d appreciate if one of you could bring something for sale!
Regards
Manfred

May I remind readers that day guests are welcome to attend the Southern Rally. With due consideration to our hosts, and at their request, casual visitors must be a club member or accompanied by a club member. This event is NOT open to the general public. If you are attending casually on either or both days please let me know.
We have been advised there might be extensive roadworks in Feldon Lane at the time of our event.
A reminder, we are looking forward to seeing those of you who have booked in for the Scott Owners Club Southern Rally on 9 – 11th August. Name badges for guests will be issued when you arrive. A copy of the programme is below and in August Yowl, please look again at the notes and check list. I have a local A-Z map, and can send a copy of the relevant page if you need it.
We were on site yesterday and there are road works in the area, mainly 4-way contractor’s traffic lights at the junction of Feldon Lane and London Road (A4251). Some of the contractor’s signage may give you the impression that Feldon Lane is closed, it is not. It’s the adjacent small turning “Meadow Way” which is closed, the signs are confusing.
Feldon Lodge has a clear signboard on Feldon Lane. You drive down to the Lodge via a narrow rural track, don’t be concerned, there are acres of turning space at the Lodge. We have a choice of hard standing or grass parking, depending on the weather, probably the former. For campers the toilet / wash / shower rooms are at the back of the sports hall.
We have two last-minute cancellations, one twin and one single room with catering, just on the chance you know anyone….!
I am happy to answer any questions you might have on the event.
Regards
Richard Tann

The club’s very own oil baron, Glyn Chambers, would like to announce he will be attending the Rally with supplies of oil to sell. He will also bring a selection of old Yowl magazines to give to anyone who would like them.
