Seeing orgasmatron’s post about steering dampers reminded me that a couple of years ago someone was advertising repro Webb damper knobs, I think it may have been in the VMCC journal. Does anyone know who it was or if they are still available please?
There is a replica Andre knob (like the one on my TT Rep) for sale on Ebay (possibly a lot more if you trawl through Ebay) for £25. Go to Ebay Motors and type in number 181155298371 and it should come up.
Chris.
Just a boring old Webb one is all I need. its for a 1938 model so obviously it would never have had an Andre. Its had a BSA one ever since I built it and its just one of those niggling things. 🙂
Thanks for the tip, I’ve just had a look on Ebay, I never realised there were so many on there! I’m sure there is someone in Mumbai (or Bombay, as the people who live there call it) who knock one out for me. 😆
But Chris is currently trying to sell his Myford dividing head ! He would need that for the finger indents around the edge of the knob, unless he marked it all out with a protractor. Better hang on to it a bit longer…..

Grove Classic Motorcycles stock them as the following item; 14/2M Damper Knob – “Webb” Logo – UK Made, price is £25.00
Picture is available for reference.
Chris to make that damper part I would not get that clever this old bodger would stick a change wheel with the correct number of teeth on the rear of the mandrel of my 103 year old Drummond and use the lathe as a shaper . Regards D F.
