Hey guys and gals!
Im new to the Scott scene so please be gentle….
I have a 1931 Powerplus and have just refurbished the Pilgrim pump. I have only had this bike a week so i havent gone as far as taking the crankcase inspection covers off yet, but i will need to to refit the pump. There are two nuts (behind the pump side cover) for the pump mounting bolts but they are loose so i cant get the bolts to engage them.
My plan is to take the cover off, fit the pump and then refit the cover. Would this be correct??
Once the cover retainers are removed should the cover just come away or is the a trick to it?? I have removed the retainers but the cover seems stuck fast!! I thought i would ask before applying too much pressure and breaking something!!

With the retaining clamps still in position, but loosened off, just operate the kickstart smartly, and the door should pop off its seat. The clamps will stop the door falling onto the floor. Do NOT try and prise the door off its seat ! There should be a gasket between the door and the crankcase.

Thanks! I will give it a shot tomorrow and hope the last person in there didnt use RTV! 🙂

😀 😀 😀 😀 All is not lost if the RTV gremlin surfaces!!!!!!!!!!!!! I recently had the same problem. Just drill though the doors. Tap the holes and use a withdrawal bolt! 😀 😀 Drastic I know but when you put the blanking (cut down head) bolt in it looks original! Regards Ted 😀 😀 BTW! Make sure the “worked on crank” is at TDC before you drill. That way the swarf can be removed.!!!!!!!!!”

The door wouldnt budge by kicking the engine over so i got a couple of nails the same diameter as the oil pump bolt holes, Slipped them in and used them the wiggle the door free!
No silicon thank heavens, but it hasnt been apart for a while. Refitted with a new gasket. All this fuss just to fit a new beak to the pilgrim!!! If only the old one came out in one piece?! 😉
