Swindon/Oxford get-together

Hello all, just a quick reminder that the next Swindon/Oxford get-together will take place on Saturday Feb 23rd at the usual venue, the Rat Trap pub, Stratton St Margaret, Swindon, SN3 4QS.All are welcome, the pub is family friendly and the food is good. Hope to see you there from 12 noon onwards.

Sadly I can’t make this one as it clashes with my regular Saturday volunteering down at the Didcot railway center.

I don’t suppose there is any chance of changing the day to a Sunday at some stage is there? I would probably be able to make a few more of the get-togethers if they were on a Sunday. I wouldn’t want to put anyone to any trouble though!

Thanks Pete, sorry to hear you can’t make it. When the weather improves we’ll have to arrange a ride-out from The Rat to Didcot to see you at the railway centre. Keep up the good work!

I hope you all had a good meet. I was thinking of you all having to force down a pint whilst I was lyin under a train getting very cold!

You would be most welcome to head over to Didcot sometime but I have to warn you that the parking isn’t very Scott friendly. The railway center is quite literally the wrong side of the tracks and there is only access by foot. The parking is not secure and is a long way from the steam train area and the bikes would therefore be unsupervised.

How about a bus trip 🙂

Speaking of buses… the Oxford Bus Museum might make a good destination for a rideout. There is plenty of parking and they probably would mind a bunch of vintage bikes and a few vintage riders (!) poping in for a cuppa (there is a cafe). Best to check with them first though!
