Sorry Richard I will not be able to make it this year even if my latest bike is ready, im afraid there is no way that I can drive over 270 miles each way with the trailer on. Only just made it to Abbotsholm, just hope it is a bit closer next year.
Sorry we will not be seeing you Eric, we’ll miss you. I have visited Shuttleworth and it’s an ideal spot for our weekend, with lots of interesting thing to see and do. But as you say, the location will not be ideal for everyone.
It’s been very difficult finding a suitable venue with affordable accommodation in the right location, we have to attempt to please all Club members, mission impossible! We are open to suggestions for the future, ideally situated in the Midlands or low North. All offers considered.
Richard Martin is the organiser and the main man, I am just the scribe, as he does not have access to the Internet.

Hi Richard, yes you are correct not everyone can be pleased all the time, unfortunately it’s normally the ones who do not volunteer to help with the organisation of such events and leave it to others that complain the most. As most people are aware I volunteered to do Abbotsholme this year but obviously I was not the “right” person for the job but maybe this has helped other people who do not travel far to any event. So if the club is open for suggestions for next year in the areas you have mentioned this implies that Abbotsholme is not booked for 2017 or is that a mistake I have made.
Maybe the answer is to have a Southern and Northern event.
Caldwell sounds like a good weekend so I will go to this and enjoy riding my Scott around the track instead of Travelling to Shuttleworth.
I have also thought of volunteering and will volunteer to take over from Eddie as editor, I’m sure he is correct about going to digital format along with the website but yes a few members will want to have a hard copy to keep the volumes up to date and why not. Am I the “right” person, has anybody else volunteered yet, the list may grow now.
Well I’m off to do more work so I’m ready for Cadwell, see some of you there. Kev
Hi Kevin. I know there were other issues with the Scott Club continuing to hold their event at Abbotsholme, one major concern being the fall off in attendance. I may have been premature in asking for suggestions of possible new venues, I presume the future of Club “accommodation events” will depend on how well attended Shuttleworth turns out to be. There is no question of anyone not being the right person for the job, in fact, I have it on the list to ask your advice (read “help”) on making this event more Silk friendly. So, I’m sorry to find out you’re not planning to attend.
The editor is the most important member of the committee. Yowl is all the majority of members see of our Club. In the first instance you should contact Eddie Shermer who I’m sure will be very pleased to hear from you.
Again, here I’m just the scribe and a helper, and these are just my views.

Kevin – I have sent you a PM.
Hi Lewis read and replied, Many Thanks Kev
Move to the top.
Hi, I just got back home after attending the “Scott Gathering” today. I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed it, great weather, great venue, great motorcycles, great company plus a free flying display by a Spitfire. Even my wife enjoyed it. Many thanks to Richard Martin and anyone else who helped organise the event. 😀
Yes, all that and more ! I just wished that the hangars could have been open for a quick look around. They do have a Scott-engined Flying Flea hanging from the rafters, probably the best place for it….
