Hi,
There is a VERY badly described 1930 Scott in the Richard Edmonds auction at Castle Combe Circuit on Fri/Sat 24th/25th of May. It is Lot No 1009, and described as a “Super Squirrel”. It is however a Flying Squirrel !! Said to be in good condition, it has been much modified, and has a bolt-on foot-change conversion, left-hand rear brake pedal, non-Scott handlebars and controls, and what appear to be Ariel girder forks, instead of Webb or Scott forks. I can see quite a bit of chromium plating that shouldn’t be there too. Guide price is £5750 to £6000.
Frame number is quoted as 2580M, but looks at least a year or two older than 1930 as it has the three-hole lower-front lugs instead of two-hole. Engine number is quoted as FZ3226A, and the Reg is WL9686.
Perhaps Ian Parsons may be able to pass further comment…..
I see that they have also got a 1948 Flyer in the same auction, but that is also a bit ‘odd’, in that it looks well pre-war, having Webb girder forks instead of Dowty forks, and half-width hubs/brakes at both ends, instead of the expected post-war full width hubs. Reg is NFO 198, frame number 5360, engine number DPY 5520.
