Two speed starter

Hi can any one please tell me the best way to fit a electric starter to a two speeder. also what starter do I need. thanks Eric

I do NOT believe in modifying historic machinery, and certainly not if it involves mutilating Scott components, but if you must I have seen a video clip somewhere, perhaps on YouTube, of a two-speeder with electric starter in Australia. It was mounted underneath the two-speed gear, and presumably engaged direct with the gear drum, rather than with the engine. However Owen Tyler was riding his two-speeder up to nearly 100 years old, (him not the bike !), and he didn’t need an electric leg….

Brian I know how you feel, but unfortunately due to the last lot of surgery 7 years ago for cancer it has left me very week in the kicking department that’s why I got rid of my 1938 250 Francis Barnett if it did not start by the second kick it went back in the garage. what I intend to do with the Scott will be reversible so will not ruin the bike. its either that or give up riding. That’s why my every day bike is a 250 vtwin virago with electric start. Eric

Absolutely modify historic machinery if it means you can enjoy it as it was intended. This country is jam packed with perfectly preserved museum pieces. If Alfred could have designed an electric foot I bet he would have. I’m sure I saw a 2 speed with electric start in the UK, maybe at Banbury a couple of years ago. 💡

Yes I saw it but thought it looked rather ugly stuck under the back, Ive put mine infront of the mag where you want see it from the right hand side.and does not look that obvious from the left. Eric
