Hi,
Welcome to this new Scott Forum.
Anybody can read the messages placed here but to post your own ‘reply’ or ‘new topic’ you will first have to register.
The registration process is fairly straightforward and to do so you will need to have:
a. a user name which has not already been used (eg. mine is “Paul Wilson”);
b. a valid email address (without this you will not be able to activate your account);
c. a password (can be almost anything comprised of numbers and letters) which you will need to enter twice.
Once you have these to hand then you are ready to register (by pressing the ‘register’ link above). Here you will be presented with a disclaimer notice and asked to confirm your status. After that you will be prompted for your user name, password and email address – you will also be given the opportunity to change various settings for your account (if in doubt just accept the default settings, you can always change them later). Finally you will be sent an email containing an account activation link – once you have clicked on this link you will be ready to log-in and post things on the forum.
If you have any questions then you can look in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) link above, which will hopefully address most of your concerns. If you are really stuck then you can email forum_admin@scottownersclub.org or even post a help message on the old scott forum (if you have the link).
This is a new service so there may yet be some undiscovered bugs – if these occur then please bear with me as I try and rectify them. I will paralle run the old and new forums for a short period until we are all happy that his new service is up and running.
I hope you can make use of and enjoy this service. Why not post a reply to this message so that I know people are able to use it.
Best Regards to all and keep Scotting,
Paul Wilson
Dear Paul
Thanks for all the work that you are doing to improve the site. The new message board format will take a little time to get used to but looks as though it will be more useful. Let us hope the events section gets used.
All the best
Jon
Hi
I would like to congratulate you for this new forum which is really easier to use and quite more interesting for us, Scotts lovers.
Hopping new good changes like those.

P.D. Sorry about my english, but…. I am Spanish
Hi Paul,
Thanks for the work you are doing on our behalf. Much appreciated. Like anything new it will take some getting used to. I used to teach people to use computers some while ago and had quite a number over 70 years of age who became pretty good, quite quickly. Age is an asset not a disablement. Perhaps sometime we can find out the average age of the users of the site. I’m 21 but unfortunately not for the first time 😆 😀
Dear Paul,
Thankyou for all your efforts.The new format will take some time to get used to.A few questions:can we post photographs and if so how?If we use 2 email addresses ie.one work and one home (the addresses differ but the user names etc would be the same) Should I just try?.How can I change my user name,I shortened it for convenience but then found that most members used their full names and on reflection I would like to do likewise.How does one insert ones location in the membership data listing?
Hi Paulw,
to answer some of your questions,
you can update your country setting by clicking on the ‘profile’ link above. You don’t actually need your email account to log on once you have activated your acount, you just need your user name and password to log on from home or work.
You still can’t upload pictures to this forum at present but if you email some to me (via webmaster@scottownersclub.org) then i’ll put them on the website with any text you include.
If you want your username to be changed then let me know what you wnat it changed to and i’ll see if I can do it for you, the other option is for me to delete your account and then you can re-register with a new username ?
Thanks Paul for all your work on this site – we are now in 2004 – yipee!!
😆
