Hello fellow Scottists,
I have found a gear maker that is willing to make the 26t main shaft close medium gear, and am wondering if there is any body else out there that is requiring the same,
as the the cost is reduced if I can have a quantity made, please let me know,
Hi Andy, I would be interested in one.
Ok fred, I will give it a few more days to see if we can get the numbers up, my man has the details for pricing, I will keep you informed
Me too Andy, as I have all sorts of Vintage-Wide, Modern-Wide, Close-Medium, and Vintage-Close oddments but no 26T mainshaft cogs. With one I would be able to make up a complete spare gearbox.

Ok Brian, I will keep all updates coming.
Count me in!
Jem
Ok Jem
Me too.
Hello Andy,
Please put me down for two please.
Thanks.
Laurie Erwood.
Hi Andy, And two for me if possible please. Thanks, Colin.
Hello again Andy,
As an afterthought, I had a single gear made in 2006 for a rather special set of Scott ratios. The write-up in Yowl for May 2009 contains some information about material specification that may be useful if you have not yet discovered something similar.
Regards,
Colin.
Okey Dokey I’ll look it out, thanks Colin
Hello all requiring 26t main shaft gear
Just had a reply from the gear maker,
Prices as follows
1 Off £476+vat each 5-6 weeks
9 Off £250 +vat each 7-8 weeks
if the total number required is less than the 9 the price will be higher
All those who require these let me know via email, to confirm order please

Sorry Andy, but not for me at that price, as it would make it a very expensive spare gearbox to sit on the shelf. I hope that you get enough takers to place an order.
Brian
Hello Andy,
I too regret that I need to withdraw my former request for two off items.
It is now apparent to me how fortunate I was in getting my one-off special pinion made. I was directed to a company whose business was gears and where there was an appreciation of Classic and Vintage vehicles. They were extremely tolerant of my small job and I was prepared to wait until a suitable tab-end of correct material was ‘left over’ and to wait even longer for a suitable batch of heat treatment to be just right for my job. By comparison a normal commercial job with material bought in especially and time allocated to set up for a small batch will appear to be costly.
Thank you for the efforts you have made on our behalf, it was very thoughtful.
Regards, Colin.
