No response here, so welcome to the wonderful world of Scotts!
I am not sure that the P&M and Scott 2speed gear arrangements are that closely related. I understand the P&M uses side-by-side twin primary chains driven from a double engine sprocket, these drive a countershaft containing the selection device. The same principle as the Scott, but more akin to the early Royal Enfield 2speeder.
I can scan and send illustrations of the Scott and RE arrangements if they are of interest.
