Absolutely modify historic machinery if it means you can enjoy it as it was intended. This country is jam packed with perfectly preserved museum pieces. If Alfred could have designed an electric foot I bet he would have. I’m sure I saw a 2 speed with electric start in the UK, maybe at Banbury a couple of years ago. 💡
