Hi Eric,
I found these pictures:
Thank Martin. I have now got a pile of works photos from my old friend Andrew Marfel eric
Hi, Today I visited the VMCC library in order to look at the works despatch books in order to find out the origins of various engines and frames loitering in my workshop, and also decided to look at the records for the Lightweight Squirrel. They are listed on pages 147 to 161, with engine numbers running from X2 up to X336. I didn’t have time to go through each page of entries to see if the numbers were continuous and consecutive, but it looks as if well over 300 were made, maybe a full 334 of them, including odd ones with Villiers engines.

Hi, dealer Verralls at Handcross in West Sussex currently have a 1931 model for sale at an asking price of £9250.

I’ve just looked at the Verralls photos, (in their post-vintage section), and see that the bike doesn’t even have Scott forks ! They look like lightweight Webbs.
Brian
Brian from 29 they had web forks with valanced mudguards then for 31 they put plain mudguards to get the weight down, they also dropped the coffee pot exhaust and put a single pipe and silencer. all for the cheaper road tax.
Odd that Eric, as my photos of the prototype show Scott forks. The forks on the Verralls bike look like late 1930s Webbs of the type fitted to GTP Velocettes.
Brian
Brian Yes they did fit Scott forks on the early one with a tin primary chain case, then the webb forks with a cast alloy chain case. I have a pile of works photos showing both. it also lists a 350 from September 31 for a extra £2. if you had electric lights you could have either a magliter or a Lucas magdyno and battery for a extra £5. Eric
heres some literature just listed on ebay
BTW I’m not bidding on the items ,I thought I’d just pass it along 😀
Looking back through these records for photos of the 1930 399 single. I have most of one but not likely to have all original parts. Its getting near to completion and photos particularly in the gear change and brake pedal are would help in making something in keeping Mine is mainly a first year one but with replaced forks. I have made a cylinder head and primary case etc. Engine no x54. I do also have a Flying Squirrel and a Scott CYK-Auto, Phil Crowder
