Another just for the record, I agree with Martin, Olaf, Christine, Graham, and Simon.

Sorry we didn’t see you at last evening’s meeting James.
You’ll have another chance on Monday 2nd September 2024, again at the Bellhouse, Grappenhal WA4 2SG which is only a mile from the M6/M56 interchange starting around 7.30pm. I guarantee you a warm welcome and will let you take the floor to ask questions of our very helpful group. You have an enjoyable learning curve ahead – I’ve been involved with Scotts for over 70 years and still don’t know all the answers, but know a man who does!! Scotting makes you smile!

PS to Graham Parker:- Good to see you last evening and thanks for your approach to James.
Oh how sad.
Eric had veteran Scotts of 1913 & 1914 which he rode widely and courageously, while I timidly rode my 1913 on quiet lanes only.
Trevor Scott summed him up as ” one of life’s gentlemen”

It would help Diana’s catering plans if anyone wishing to attend the wake at Horton Village Hall ST13 8PU could drop her an email to
diana.reynolds AT btinternet.com
Thanks
David
Clive’s daughter Diana tells me that her Dad’s funeral is scheduled for 11.20am on Tuesday 14 February at Bradwell crematorium ST5 8LE followed by a wake at Horton Village Hall.
David.
Yes, Ian, that’s how many will remember Clive, such an amiable social character!
I fondly remember bumping into him and his wife in the 1990’s at local VSCC events such as Jenkin Chapel near Macclesfield. They would be in their 2 litre Lagonda tourer, while we’d be in our 16/60 Humber.
He was a very supportive member of the North West Section of the SOC in our days at the now closed Whipping Stocks pub and was known to open his home in the hills (Hot Beds Farm) as a staging post in VMCC events.
David.
Just a quick note to say that Graham has drawn up a 2023 Calendar of Events for the Section, with draft copies available at the meeting for your comments.
Six clubnight meetings are proposed instead of our previous 4 meetings each year.
Thanks to those who have already been in touch – hope to see you on Monday

David.
I await a full obituary from John’s son to submit to Yowl.
In the meantime, I am indebted to Graham Parker for representing the NW Section at the funeral on his 2 Speed Super and posting me a copy of the Order of Service, from which I attach the excellent cover photo,
David.
Graham Parker has told me that his Dad’s funeral will be at The Weslyan Methodist Chapel, Hospital Street, Nantwich CW5 5RP at 1.15pm on Friday 29 July 2022.
After the service, refreshments will be served at the chapel where Graham & the Parker family would welcome any special memories of Hugh.
Thanks Keith & Chris, your good luck wishes were a grand omen for a very successful meeting spent entirely outdoors in the outside seating area and adjacent top end of the car park, as you will see in my report for the August Yowl.
Keep smiling & safe Scotting
David

Yes. very sad, but thanks for your research Brian.
John Minns became SOC North West Secretary following the Section’s founding secretary (1979 on) Tom Wess and I took over from John in 1995 when he went to work in Tasmania for a while.
John was deeply involved, holding office, in the OK Supreme Club and participated in Morgan car events, attended an Abbotsholme Gathering in a vintage Riley saloon, but was quite a private man, not seen at North West meetings for many years, hence my scant knowledge.

P.S. I will contact Graham Parker to keep me informed as I am committed to being at home on Monday 30 May for a very long overtdue insurance inspection.
What was the registration, please Stan?
Trust life is treating you well
Regards
David
