Pretty sure there is one in Technicalities.
I struggled with this problem for ages until someone mention in passing, that the ‘lever’ holding the ball should be very close to the indent plate. Its quite soft material and I simply bent it very slightly and voila! problem solved. After 80 odd years I guess they bend very slightly out with use
If you are up for making one, I have a 3 speed Sturmey Archer hub I have been saving for the job. I think there may be a drawing in Technicalities.

Hi David,
I’ve only just looked at the forum, sorry. Have tried sending email but your address shown does not seem to be correct. Can you re-post it?
Cheers,
Chris
Hi David, really sorry for the delay.
Top link centre to centre is 3inches 11/16
Bottom link centre to centre is 3inches 9/16
Good luck with the job.
Chris
Hi, they are Heavyweights. Do you want measurements between centres? I can measure mine tomorrow.
Congratulations. Synthetic oil is definitely the way to go. If you ask 50 people which oil to use you willet about 60 opinions! Silkolene now do a sae 50 (I think) 2 stroke oil again which is perfect for Scotts but expensive. I use whatever synthetic 2t oil I come across and its worked for 23 years? Set your pump to give 4 or 5 spits between a good drip from each beak. Where are you based?
I have always run NGK 6 on my 1938. Use short reach. If you fit long reach you need to tun up a spacer to lift the electrode clear of the piston! Remember you only need 18 thou. gap maximum for a magneto engine (probably teaching you to suck eggs, sorry)
As a member of both clubs I agree with all of the above. In fact, my only reason for renewing VMCC membership is to attend the social meets with many friends on a Thursday. I cant imagine many SOC members voting to disappear into an organisation that is driven by the need to pay for it’s HQ.
Ah yes I remember seeing them at Kempton once. Don’t seeee why it shouldn’t fit on a Scott. I have feeling that Kingpin Components is the son of ‘The Magneto Guys’, man.
I didn’t know there was such a thing for the Scott. Where are they advertised, Jeff?
That’s interesting, Glyn. I’d better turn mine down a bit?
With that reduction gear, you want 2 spits and a drip I think
Glad to hear it, Tony. Good luck?
Hi Tony I’ve just seen your thread.
I fitted 6 springs off a 250 villiers something purchased by eye, from Martin Bratby at an auto jumble 20 years ago and they are perfect. Lighter than correct ones from the club as I have replacement plates from Sam Pierce. Never slips or drags. Also have semi liquid grease in the box which never leaks even though the bike is always left on the side stand.
