    A posting by John Welch:
As a visiting Club member from the States, I was so delighted and warmed by the gracious reception and kindness shown by everyone in the Scott Club when I attended the Annual Gathering at Abbotsholme. What a lovely setting! The scenery, the rural lanes, the school itself were marvelous. It was a real joy to meet the people whose letters I had read, and who make the Club so interesting. Richard Tann has been my host since I have been here, and he has made the trip memorable. I met so many Club members that it is hard to keep them straight, but especially David Waring, Ian Parsons, Geoff Green, Paul Rickards, Trevor Scott, Mollie and Les Scott stand out in my feeble brain. Eddie and Margaret, Dr (Spike) Pike, Andrew, and Laurie Erwood also were so kind to me. Oh, I have first dibs on Marge’s Figaro!! I had a long and lovely talk with Lewis Onions and can see what an able leader he has been for the Club.
The ride itself, through the spectacular hills and fields, along the country roads, and amidst the sheep and cows was the best ever for me. I had never had such an experience before. Richard generously let me use his TT Rep, and it never failed. My Scott in the US has deep suspicions of getting out of sight of my garage, and usually refuses to travel any farther. The settings for the lunch break and tea were wonderful as well. I need to come back and take a ride on the Kingsley and Froghall railway!
The accomodations and meals were so good, and the staff so helpful that I feel they deserve extra rounds of applause and thanks.
So, to the Club, the hard working officers, and the organisers, and the members, my deepest thanks for a wonderful, enjoyable weekend, such as I have never experienced before. I hope to be back next year, and am hoping that threat will not make you cancel!
    Cheers,
    John

That was me, sorry I could not find any other missing copies, I’ll keep looking. I am sure I put a ‘compliments’ slip in with it. Don’t worry about the postage.

Jon Hodges, of radiator fame, has the Club’s collection of back issues. and I’m sure he could help with some of the other missing copies.

    Thanks Brian,

I am told that my radiator is in Stoke on Trent, not at the repairers. If there is a possibility of getting it back, I thought I might as well ask if any other members were in the same position, and attempt to get the whole lot back together.

There are three members with four missing radiators known to me at present.

I guess it might be worth a call to the repairers to make sure that my information is correct, would you be kind enough to email me the contact details.

Just off to Llandrindod Wells for the ISDTW.

    Hello again

As a result of my posting on this web site in Jan 2005, I sent my radiator to Paul for repair. Unfortunately, due to Paul’s overseas commitments, I have not yet had it back.

If anyone else is in this position, would they kindly contact me as I have a kind offer from another member who is trying to resolve the situation.

The National Gathering is at Stanford Hall on Sunday. I’m sure the answer to your question will be there, especially as this year the emphasis is on later models. I intended to take a few photos to send on to you, so I’ll make sure I get the information you require too.

    Hello two speeder exponents!

Did Catrina ever get a response to her previous enquiry regarding how electric assisted start could be applied to a two speeder? John Underhill from Bristol has done it, but the details have never been revealed, and I do not know if the installation was successful.

Does any reader have a source of brake shoe relines for the small two speeder brake? The type with the external circular spring that fits in a groove around the outside of the shoe and underneath the linings. Our usual supplier says they are too fiddly and he doesn’t want to do them.

No problem. These photocopies came from Les Scott from the time when he was Magazine Distributor. They are not sharp copies, but if they are useful to anyone let me know and I will pass a copy on.

Try it again, there has been a telephone engineer working in the road today, perhaps the connection was lost.

Many thanks for volunteering for this important role. I cannot think of anybody more able, or better qualified, to give the overseas members the means to fairly influence the way that our club is run.

Let’s not forget to thank the troopers for their part in this. Fred Willson, Richard Moss and many other from the floor who made the valuable and well reasoned points that moved this proposition forward.

Within the next few days you will be receiving the April Yowl which contains the agenda for the AGM. You will see that I have seconded this proposal. I intend to represent the interests of overseas members in this matter to the best of my ability.

Fred Willson has very ably and concisely put forward the case against this proposition.

However in this age of political correctness, I do not believe that the Club can overlook the wishes of members who are not able to attend the AGM. If proxy voting is not the answer, then we must endeavour to find another fair solution. Possibly we could offer two levels of membership, full and associate.

If any members have views that they would like aired at the meeting perhaps they would let me have them. I would also like to have a gauge of the level of support for this proposition.

Looking forward to hearing from you

Don’t go booking a bigger venue, it’s only me and Colin Morris coming down to your meeting!

I’m chasing up members who haven’t renewed. Colin is standing for the Club’s Press Officer at the AGM, and he would like to drum up a little support.

Anyway, you still owe me a pint for pushing that BMW round the car park at a previous AGM.
