I’ll post you a copy of an original “Hints and Tips” manual on the Amal 276 carburetter, it’s a bit tatty, but it will tell you all you need to know.
We have three Amal suppliers in the UK.

Nice bike, I have similar, but mine continually “spits back” through the carb. Ken Lack tells me that it’s important to fix the float bowl at the front of the carb, not where you (and I) have it, at the rear.

I am pleased to welcome you as a new Club member.
You can join using Pay pal, the subscription is £19.00 at the moment. This includes Pay pal’s commission charge.
Just use Colin’s (coded!) e mail address as listed in the first entry on this subject.
For the future, the committee agreed on Saturday to open it’s own Pp account activated from a link on the web site. This will be for membership subscriptions, binders and spares scheme contributions only – ’till we see how it goes!

Details of Harry’s funeral are posted in the Members’ Area of this forum.
It’s worth doing a search of the forum, Roger Hulett asked for a 2 brush diagram in Nov 2008 but didn’t get any response. There is also a suggestion that there are errors in the Technicalities (5.1.01) circa 1930 wiring diagram that is also for a 3 brush dynamo.
If you are in the VMCC the ad. for AO Services in the back of the journal looks helpful http://www.aoservices.co.uk .
You may have gathered that I have the same ambition, and with a 2 brush dynamo!

That’s easy, have a look at Jan Buchwald’s posting “Electronic Regulators” in Sources of Supply on this forum. It gives the link to Jan’s website that contains the Scott wiring diagram.
You might also be interested to know that Armour of Bournemouth http://www.armoursltd.co.uk can supply a universal wiring harness (ref WH1) with diagram for about £20.
Let me know how you get on. You might have won a free holiday in North London!!

I am very sorry to tell members that Harry died last night. Our thoughts are with Doreen and the family.
This sad news comes via Alan King, printer of our magazine Yowl, and one of Harry’s closest friends.

You are completely incontinent, as you have also failed to include my very important article on the proposed compulsory scrappage scheme for ALL two stroke motorcycles within the European Union countries. This is being presented at Maastricht this very morning by the EU Environmental Committee, and the suggestion is that a scrappage allowance of 800 euro be made against the purchase of a new motorcycle with an engine capacity not exceeding 125cc.
I had hoped that my article would raise awareness in the Club, that the matter could be discussed at the AGM, with a proposal that Roger Moss be sent to Brussels to represent the Club in this very important matter.

You have raised a good point that needs urgent attention. I’ll make sure it’s dealt with at the committee meeting next week.
Richard
Just spoke to Ken on another matter, he does a manifold, for about £35.

Have you tried Ken Lack? Address on back page of Yowl.
Good luck.

Even I could look good with that amount of money spent on me!
I was expecting to hear that you saw it as a cure for the infernal “spitting back” that plagues some 2speeders, and is blamed on poor manifold design. I have my doubts about that theory, but I’m not an expert.

Back to basics please! I think you should explain why you are planning a twin carb conversion on a 2speeder, as you might be heading up the wrong (and expensive) path.

I have plenty of spare copies of December Yowl if you want another. I have some other 2009 issues too.

Ther is no Paypal facility for UK members at the moment, but I hope to correct this omission very soon.
May I remind members who have not renewed that the deadline for 2010 is fast approaching. Just send me a cheque for £18 with your postcode on the back and I’ll do the rest. My address is in Yowl.

It’s in the centre pages of December Yowl…………. £19.00 by Paypal.
Having sorted out about 300 membership renewals so far this week, including trudging out in the snow to post them, I am amazed to read about Ron D’s hardship……..
“bit of a bind when i have to look for my check book once a year buy a stamp find an envelope and go out in the snow to post it”
It brings McEnroe’s famous phrase to mind……….!!!
Happy New Year
