I own Silk Scott number 12. I have some spares : arthurwfarrow@hotmail.com
To be honest I have run it very little, just a few miles (mainly as I got very annoyed with a Silk 700S I have where the ignition is just not right …Boyer and turned back to fiddling with 4 strokes)
I would not disconnect the pump just turn it down and run on 40-1 quality 2 stroke oil like Silkolene Comp2 which I use in my 1928 Works TT racer
Thank you Doug, I will give Ian a call and see what I can find out. I am quite interested to know how Ian does the conversions.
Thank you Chris
hello i have a complete radiator whith cap in LAITON original FOR 50E MODEL FOR FLYER 1935
Many thanks Glyn! Your “dosage” advice is in line with other sources, I just wanted to get a second opinion… By the way: with more than 3000 booths, the biggest European autojumble (“Stafford on steroids”) takes place October 13th to 15th at Mannheim. Should you visit, dont miss to see me at booth 752! Cheers, Olaf
Thank you very much for the suggestion, Glyn. I will get some of the “Radiator Glue” you suggest. Is there a product that you have used successfully? There seem to be a lot of options when I do a search! I’ve recently had transfer port gasket issues so a temporary fix for that as well is very useful.
Just got to fix the second kickstart spring I have broken now!
Hi Graham,
Hope your well. The Gathering this year is held in conjunction with the VMCC Taveners Section Founders Day event. We have a double pitch booked with lots of room for bikes. The event is held on Sunday 23rd July only but the site is open on Saturday 22nd for setting up and we hope to hold a short and informal run out for anyone interested. Camping is available on the evening of the 22nd for anyone interested and can be booked through the Taveners section website http://www.FoundersDay.co.uk for a very reasonable price, I understand there is a beer tent on the Saturday night and some entertainment. You can bring your bike onto the stand on the Saturday afternoon evening or on the Sunday Morning before about 9.30. Anything else anyone needs to know please ask away. Kind regards Edward Irving
Ok I’ll measure my slimline, do you know if the shape of the earlier wideline/ TT rep tank is the same as late 30s tank ?
I have found the frame number after some work and it is clearly 2202 any more information please
Any help in identifying the year and model would be very helpful. The frame has been stripped many years ago primed and painted black. It will need doing again so I will look for the frame number aided by paint stripper a wire brush and scraper. I am a member of the Scott owners club and will submit the details of the machine when I have the frame number. My uncle tod me this was much later than 1928, he thought it was late 30’s 1937 to be exact.

I have found the engine number which is FY 1140 A. I have not as yet located the frame numbercas yet. However the magneto, pistons, crank case doors and pilgrim pump have been located, much happier now.
I always thought you would lose interest. I assume that it’s still in bits at the back of the garage, then?
Thank you Geoff,
Eric will be missed, as a regular rider on the Early Motor Bicycle event and as knowledgeable man who was good company.
John
Hello Dave,
I do not recognise the registration of the 1938 Scott you have inquired about. I so not think that is a Sheffield area registration. If you consult the Vintage Club who hold the Scott Dispatch Registry the will be able to tell you where the machine was dispatch to in 1938. I have used this service in the past and found they very helpful.
Best Wishes,
Martin Hodkin.
